Recently, the e-commerce giant Amazon has launched the Fire TV Stick in India at a cost price of Rs 3,999. Now, the users can watch Amazon Prime videos on their TV with great ease by using fire TV stick. The Prime members will receive cash back of Rs 499 via Amazon Pay. They can also get it from offline retailers like Reliance Digital and Croma. The Fire TV stick can be plugged in directly to HDMI port of TV, similar to Google’s Chromecast. The stick will ship with a voice remote that can be used for searching videos by speaking into or navigating the interface. During the launch, Amazon officials also mentioned that Fire TV stick has the capability to understand Hindi dialects as well.
Amazon has also announced various special offers for fire TV stick purchasers but they are for a limited period of time. According to sources, the buyers will receive free premium membership of Eros Now, 240GB free data on their YOU Broadband connection and 100 GB free data on their 4G Wi-Fi connection and Airtel broadband for 3 months. In addition to this, ad-free streaming on Voot and Gaana apps will be available for one month and six months respectively.
In terms of specifications, this 32g Fire TV Stick features Mali450 graphics, 1GB RAM, and a 1.3GHz MediaTek Quad-core processor. It also has an 8GB internal memory and supports for 802.11ac Wi-Fi. All these specs can offer 720p and 1080p high definition video content streaming. The e-commerce giant also mentioned its several technological innovations like Fire TV Stick has ‘ASAP’ (advanced streaming and prediction) through which the device knows what you watch and begins pre-fetching to minimize the wait time. The company has also claimed that it can speed up streaming by 50%.
Furthermore, the Amazon Fire TV stick is also compatible with H.265 (HEVC) video codec which shows that the films will require less time to buffer and utilize less amount of data. According to sources, the Amazon is also planning to introduce the Fire TV, the full-fledged TV box, and other products in Indian market. Though the director of Amazon Prime Video India named Nitesh Kripalani refused to comment on how those ventures are carrying out.
