A good news for WhatsApp, as there are more than 200 million active users every month for WhatsApp in India. India remains the biggest market for WhatsApp. It has been recorded that WhatsApp had 160 million active users in India had in the month of November last year. Founder of WhatsApp, Brain Acton said that the company will explore many new ways to contribute to ‘India’s vision for digital commerce’. Brain Acton also said that WhatsApp is secure and simple moreover its vision is in line with the government Digital India initiative.
On his one-day trip to India, the founder of WhatsApp Brain Acton met India’s IT Minister, Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad. He discussed the future plans of team WhatsApp with him and in their discussion, he mentioned that how WhatsApp could help to empower people living in rural areas of the country and as well as about the commercial messaging and mobile payments.
Even last year the mobile wallet App Freecharge has also announced its integration with WhatsApp. In that collaboration, it became easier for two users to exchange money with each other. During a press conference, WhatssApp founder Acton mentioned that ‘India is an important country for team WhatsApp as there are 200 million active users are there in India who uses WhatsApp to communicate with their families and friends. Team WhatsApp is proud to have this big number of users from India.
Another messaging app from Kavin Bharti Mittal, son of Sunil Bharti Mittal, founder of India’s largest telecom operator called as Airtel, is Hike. Hike is one of the competitors of WhatsApp. Whereas Hike has never shared the information about its active user’s list from India, but earlier last year Hike announced that this application had been downloaded more than 100 million times. If compared to the active user’s list of Facebook’s marquee social media app which had more than 155 million active users in the country as of late October last year.
All other companies are also looking India as world’s second largest internet marketing. Last week, Microsoft launched a new improved version of Skype and named it as Skype Lite, which is lighter and could also work on slow internet speeds. Not only this but this version of Skype can also work well on phones with less muscle power.
Acton also said that as far as the popularity of WhatsApp is concerned, sometimes it become a challenge too because some bogus people do use App to spread fake news and other misleading information in the country. But no matter how good or bad ways people are using this app but the dominance of this app is still incomparable in India. As per the information from the reliable sources, more than 14 billion messages were exchanged via WhatsApp on the eve of New Year. The bells of WhatsApp is ringing everywhere now.
