Evidently, while talking to media, Sarbananda Sonowal, chief Minister of Assam, “The prime minister will dedicate the strategically important bridge to the nation on May 26. In conjunction to this, the bridge is situated 540 km away from the capital of Assam, Dispur and 300 km away from Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. Moreover, the aerial distance is 100 km less to the Chinese border. Mr. Sonowal told, “Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have huge strategic value to the country. Since the bridge is located close to our border with China, it will help the quick movement of military troops and artillery in times of conflict.”

It is pertinent to note that as for now, the transportation between two banks of the rivers is carried via waterways. When the bridge will be inaugurated and open to the public, it will reduce the travel distance between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam by approximately four hours. On the top of all, this bridge will also help the public to reach the airport in Dibrugarh and nearest railway station as in Arunachal Pradesh there is no civilian airport.
