The remarkable actress of Bollywood industry Reema Lagoo, famous for playing the role of the mother in the Hindi and Marathi films passed away at the age of 59 years due to a heart attack on 18th May Midnight. As per the media, Reema’s son-in-law Vinay Waikul informed that she had a heart attack and they rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai and a few ours later she breathed her last.
This veteran actress well-known for her tremendous role playing of the mother in films, she performed the role of mother of leading actors of Bollywood, for instance, Salman Khan (Maine Pyar Kiya), Shah Rukh Khan (Kal Ho Naa Ho), Akshay Kumar (Jai Kishan), Sridevi(Gumrah), Madhuri Dixit (Hum Aapke Hain Koun), Ajay Devgn, Juhi Chawla, Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan, and Kajol. Reema’s mother was also a notable theater artist in the Marathi region.
The actress started her career with television in the late 1970s and early 80s. As matter of fact, she gradually gained popularity with Indian film director, Mansoor Khan’s in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak,1988’s romantic movie in which she performed the role of Juhi Chawla’s mother. She also played the role of the mother in other films, such as Maine Pyar Kiya and Saajan both the movies were romantic drama and in 1991’s film Patthar Ke Phool. In 1998 David Dhawan’s comedy movie, Judwaa, in the year 1999 Hum Saath Saath Hain family drama.
Reema also played a role in Karan Johar directorial debut movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai role of Kajol’s mother and she also played television shows like Tu Tu Main Main’ and ‘Shriman Shrimati’. She was last seen on the television show of Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Naamkaran’. She also won the accolade, a National Film Award for the best popular film (director) for the movie Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988). She won four Filmfare Awards for a best-supporting actress.
