Surinder Singh Mann, popularly known as Sharry Mann entered the field in 2011 with his famous track ‘Yaar Anmulle’. The song about his unforgettable moments from his college life connected the youth with the song and became a household number. Every where you go, you could hear the track doing the rounds. Currently, the track has 18.1 million views on YouTube. Therefore, the industry welcomed Sharry Mann with open arms. Since his first track, Sharry Mann started giving back to back amazing tracks. His voice and lyrics soon began to find their fanbase among the youth of Punjab. Most of the songs sung by Mann are written by himself only.

Sharry Mann was born to Balbir Singh and Harmel Kaur on 12 September 1982 in Mohali, Punjab. Among his siblings, there is one sister and one brother. Mann completed his schooling in Chandigarh before pursuing civil engineering in Rode Lande College in Moga. After completing his graduation, Mann started his civil engineering job after coming back to Mohali. 34-year old Sharry Mann is married but he never revealed any details about his wife. He invited only a few close friends and relatives at his wedding and kept it private. He came to the limelight for the first time when his video ‘Kudiyan Te Bussan’ was leaked on the internet and went viral.

Sharry Mann always had a thing for writing and singing songs in his free time but he said that he never thought of becoming a mainstream singer in the industry. Babbu Mann and Gurdas Mann were among his idols who inspired him towards singing. After his first successful album ‘Yaar Anmulle’, Sharry Mann released his second album ‘Aate di Chiri’ in 2012. The album was loved by his fans and all the tracks from the album were equally loved. Some of the famous tracks from the album were ‘Yankne’, ‘Sohne mukhde da’, ‘Chandigarh Waliye’, ‘Disk Ch Kali’ and ‘Bhul jayin na’.

Sharry Mann emerged out as a very respected singer in the industry. Even the singers whom he once idolized were showering the praises for the singer. His songs always had a meaning in them which is why they were appreciated by everyone and he always used simple language in his songs which is why everyone could connect with them. Slowly Sharry found his fanbase outside Punjab and further in the foreign countries as well were there is a large number of Punjabi diaspora. Record label ‘Speed records’ always backed Mann with his singles and albums. ‘Pooja Kiven Aa’ was later used in the hit Punjabi movie ‘Jatt and Juliet’. Among his other popular singles, there is ‘Kalla Chan’, ‘Hashtag’. In 2016, Mann released four singles – ‘Vadda Bai’, ‘Carrom Board’, ‘Dil Da Dimaag’ and one of the most popular tracks of the year ‘3 Peg’. Sharry Mann turned to Parmish Verma to direct the video for his song ‘3 Peg’ and the collaboration of both of them was appreciated by everyone. The song has garnered 111 million views till now on YouTube. Sharry Mann connects with youth due to his reference to the modern things in his songs like ‘Hashtag’.

During his career, Sharry Mann was awarded many music awards for his singing. After receiving his first award ‘Best Debut Vocalist’ for his song ‘Yaar Anmulle’ in 2011, Mann receiving awards for his album ‘Aate Di Chiri’ in 2013. In 2017, his song ‘3 Peg’ got him two awards ‘Most Popular Song Of The Year’ and ‘Best Bhangra Song Of The Year’. Sharry Mann released his last track ‘Hostel’ a month ago and the song is at 23 million views on YouTube. Sharry Mann started his acting career with the movie ‘Oye Hoye Pyaar Ho Gaya’ in 2013, Although the film didn’t do well at box office but his performance was praised. After that, he was a part of the movie ‘Ishq Garaari’ and also did a cameo in the recently released Diljit Dosanjh starrer ‘Super Singh’.

Currently, he has 3.2 million likes on his Facebook official page and 1.1 million followers on the Instagram official account. He is also fond of using Snapchat where he uploads videos and snaps about his tours across the world. Recently, his song ‘3 Peg’ was heard as a background song for the cheerleaders at one of the NBA games in the US which is quite impressive. This shows that his songs are now recognized widely across the world and he also claims that he receives direct praises from around the world, not only from Punjabis but people from other ethnicities as well.
