Volkswagen has landed it’s most successful SUV ever in Indian market with the price starting from 27.68 lakh (Ex-Showroom). The SUV was already made available globally.
First showcased at Geneva motor show 2017, Tiguan had many SUV lovers heart racing eagerly waiting to get their hands on. The German carmaker had announced its launch schedule for the car in India a couple of months back, now when it’s here, let’s take a look at what the almighty VW beast has to offer.
Under the big snouty hood lies a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder diesel motor, capable enough to churn 141 brake horsepower along with a maximum torque of 340 Nm. The generated power is transferred to all four wheels using a 7 speed DSG automatic transmission box with the paddle shifters. The SUV VW offers isn’t aggressive unlike many others however its sufficiently subtle to give a premium look.
Constructed on MQB (Modularer Querbaukasten) platform the car is almost half a ton lighter than previous iterations, giving improved power to weight ratio. From outside it may not look much of a charmer to stand out in the crowd but, then one should not judge a car by its cover. VW isn’t charging Rs. 3 million just to give a metal box, Tiguan is as futuristic and luxurious as any other premium utility vehicle in the range out there. Inside of the car where German magic can be seen with the interior wrapped up in dual tone. Nice comfy leather upholstery seats, fully black wrapped dashboard and steering wheel along with some fine detailing of chrome. An 8-inch infotainment system that allows Apple carPlay and Android support along with 8 speaker sound system.
Tiguan does not miss out anywhere in the safety department and comes fitted with front and window side airbags, Electronically control front seats and the driver side comes aided with driver memory function, LED headlamps and DRLs. TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), ABS (Anti-Lock Brakes System), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), HDC (Hill Descent Control) and rear parking camera assist are among other features. LED surrounded panoramic sunroof will also be available. VW Tiguan will be competing against the likes of all new Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, ISUZU MU-X, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Skoda’s upcoming Kodiaq and Koraq, Ssangyong Rexton and Tata Hexa. Almost every other competitor wins the battle straight in power, it’d be interesting to see how Tiguan performs against them.
