Mercedeshas opened it’s treasure chest at the Shanghai Auto Show 2017 and came out the all new S-Class with facelift and it looks better.
The German automaker is known to produce premium luxury cars has yet again created magic with its most popular S-Class and Saloon models. The moment you lay your eyes on S-class you are going to notice the resemblance it bears with its previous sibling however some minor tweaks like all new front multibeam LED headlamps that can light the track upto 650 meters, slightly bigger grille and refreshed LED taillamps to spice things a bit more.
The biggest highlight of the car is not the lights or anythhing but all new gizmos that have been put inside. A better and improved autonomous driving system what Merc calss ‘Intelligent Drive’ including Active Distant Assist Distronic and Active Steer Assist slows the car at the intersection or at the corners using the data from cars navigation system and the radar and camera that monitors surrouding of the track. The feature is an aide to the driver in maintaining safe distance as the vehicle itself can adjust to speed near bends, roundabouts or exit. Other feature consist of AESA (Active Emergency Stop Assist) and ALCA (Active Lane Change Assist) which is better than before. The car is enabled to scan for any bumps or potholes through its road surface scan feature, these many utilities are only limited to S-Class models only.
In the Engine section, Mercedes S-Class comes in six different engine variants with S 350 D and S 400 D getting 3.0-liter six inline cylinder unit that generates 286 and 340 bhp respectively alongside 600 and 700 Nm of peak torque while the S560 and AMG S63 models sport a 4.0-liter V8 powerhouse producing 469 horses for S560 and whopping 612 ponies in the flagship S63, the latter one has a peak torque of 900 Nm which seems to getting common now. The numbers should be more than enough for premium luxury seekers.
From the outside any difference would be hard to spot on but its the inside where magic has actually happened. Full digital cockpit with wide screen, that has two 32.1 cms screen clubbed together in the center of dashboard, which was previously seen on E-Class made it’s way to the S-Class too and it looks futuristic. All the features will be displayed and be easily accessible through the large display along with navigation and entertainment.
Mercedes S-Class upon it’s availability will compete against upcoming Audi A8 and BMW 7 Series. The masterpiece of metal has been priced at $98,000. Keep an eye on pre-booking.
