Mercedes, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary in Malaysian market introduced whole new lineup for AMG 43 series that includes six different variants. Sepang International Circuit became the venue where the German carmaker proudly flaunted the minted AMG 43 models.
The AMG 43 series bridges the gap between higher end AMG 63 lineup and AMG 45 the compact ones. The idea is to bring the power of top end models and easiness of compact variants in a car made for daily use. Globally, Mercedes is offering 11 AMG 43 series car however, the company has kept the list short with only 6 options in Malaysia which include C43 Coupe, C43 Sedan, E43, GLC 43 SUV, GLC 43 Coupe and SLC 43.
Whole lineup gets the same unit setup which is a 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine with twin turbochargers and similar 9-speed automatic transmission box mated to the motor. Let’s take a look what the different car has to offer.
AMG C43 Coupe: It brings out 367 Brake horsepower from the setup and 520 Nm of peak torque. All the power is enough to propel the 2 Door car 0-100 in just 4.6 seconds and tops around 250 km/h. Keyless entry, Adaptive steel spring suspensions, LED headlamps with high beam assist, panoramic sunroof, 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels, a 360-degree camera, an infotainment system that rests on the dashboard along with Burmester surround sound speaker are many of the few features found in the car. For safety department, it is fitted with AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking) Tyre monitoring system. In C43 Sedan, everything remains same as C43 Coupe only Sedan version comes with 4 doors The sedan is priced at RM499,888 in Malaysia while the coupe is a bit costlier at RM548,888.
AMG E43: The most powerful of among all in AMG 43 department, the sedan is tuned to generate 401 horsepower along with identical 520 Nm of torque. The top speed may remain the same in all the variant, however, acceleration of E43 is one hundred of a second quicker than other ones as it only takes 4.6 seconds to reach 100 km/h from 0. Other minor differences include an air suspension instead of traditional steel spring, one inch bigger alloys (20-inch), also this car lack adaptive LED High Beam Assist. Mercedes has put a price tag of RM658,888.
AMG SLC 43: The roadster from AMG has identical power output of 367 Bhp and 520 Nm torque. Does a sprint of 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. SLC lacks behind in auto parking, multibeam headlamps and panoramic sunroof department and runs on slightly smaller wheels that are 18 inches. In the sound section, SLC is class leading with Harmon and Kardon speakers and a buyer would only get reverse parking camera. Although the car is sheer luxury hence, costs RM570,888 in Malaysia.
AMG GLC 43 Coupe/SUV: Both the SUP and Coupe brothers share the alike energy generation of 367 Horses and as mentioned earlier, 520 Nm of torque. The bigger siblings take 4.9 seconds of time to reach 100 km/h mark from zero because of the excess weight of being 5 seaters. Both the brothers have 21-inch alloys, also more ground clearance. SUV gets the panoramic rooftop while Coupe goes with the traditional metal sheet. Overall the duo shares the same Mercedes genome making them remarkable already. To buy a GLC 43 Coupe one will have to shed RM580,888 and to get hands on SUV you might have to spend 538,888 Malaysian currency.
The Malaysian markets seem excited with the cars that Mercedes brought on their half century. Five decades of Mercedes in Malaysia is nothing less than a success milestone.
