In India, Jeep entered the market with its three recognized models – Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, and Cherokee SRT. The Ranjangaon plant is the fourth manufacturing plant in the world for the SUV and it will produce Jeep Compass for around 100 countries.
The Compass will come with an option of a petrol and a diesel variant engine and both will have the option of manual and automatic transmission. The petrol powered engine will have a 1.4-litre displacement while the diesel while is having 2.0-litre multijet turbo motor. The company is likely to feature all-wheel drive system in the Jeep Compass.
Jeep Compass will be competing with Honda CRV, Hyundai Tucson, and Skoda Yeti. All eyes are set on the launch of Jeep Compass as the company is yet to make a mark in the Indian automobile market. The car’s design idea is adapted from the Grand Cherokee. Compass features LED headlamps and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The SUV will be getting 4X4 and 4×2 features. Inside the Compass, a number of features will be seen like touchscreen infotainment system which consists of navigation and systems with Apple carplay and Android. The Compass is also loaded with ABS and EBD for the better braking, reverse parking sensors, electronic stability control and many airbags for the safety.
Jeep India is looking forward to making a name in the market with the launch of Compass as its earlier launches Wrangler and Cherokee were not as successful as expected to be. Despite having many Indian fans, Jeep still has a lot to do to give a tough fight to its counterparts.
