Isuzu Motors India finally unveiled the much-anticipated SUV in India at a starting price of 23.99 lakhs, with the launch, it replaced the previous model i.e. MU-7. Upon its availability, the SUV will go heads on with Toyota Fortuner, Toyota Innova Crysta, Tata Hexa and Ford Endeavour.
Known to produce quality pickup trucks, it’s been only a couple of years since Isuzu stepped into SUV segment with a bang and never looked back. The company yet again is ready to set the heavy car segment ablaze. Let’s take a look what makes MU-X competition worthy.
It runs on a 3.0 liter four cylinder diesel engine that gives a 174 brake horsepower power output and 380Nm of maximum torque. Isuzu only brought one engine option but different wheel drive modes that are 4X2 and 4×4. There’s also a 4×4 Terrain command variant for the Indian market. All the models come with 5-speed sequential shift automatic transmission box. Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour even the all favorite Toyota Innova fail to lead in the power segment.
MU-X is has been developed around same structure as of D-Max pickup truck and shares the resemblance as well. The SUV gets class leading features too as it sports LED DRLs(Daytime Running Lights) with projector headlamps, power adjustable seats that allow the driver to move in 6 different ways as per comfort, a 7-inch infotainment system sits on the dashboard that allows navigation and music control and other important info. For safety concern, the car is fitted with dual airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Brakes) EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) Traction Control, Hill Start Assist ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and Brake Assist and rear parking camera as the advanced safety measures. MU-X boasts some luxury features such as the keyless entry in the car and a start and stop for ignition and shutting down. All the interior and upholstery is wrapped in the dual tone that is beige and black color and it gives a nearly premium touch which is a must have thing for an SUV costing almost 24-25 lakhs.
Isuzu MU-X 2017 also has the class leading ground clearance that puts it to advantage while offroading. Aggressive looks, masculine sporty lines and a body that seems to be throbbing on hydraulics is worth a try though the company is not a familiar name around especially when the SUV section of the country is choosy and brand conscious. It’d be interesting to see how MU-X does in the Indian market in terms of sales. Will it be able to beat the much bigger named rivals?
