Here comes the good news as first-time ever electric taxis are coming soon in Maharashtra, India i.e. on May 26. Nitin Gadkari, the Union transport, and shipping minister have collaborated the project with Ola, the app-based taxi provider. In addition to this, some autos and buses will also be introduced at the launch, As per the senior official of Ola the inauguration ceremony will be attended by Devendra Fadnavis, Chief minister of Maharashtra.
The official of Ola cabs told, ” Mahindra and Mahindra have provided us with 200 taxis. The project, which has been undertaken by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, will be launched at the Nagpur airport.” As matter of fact, these electric taxis are introduced to handle the problem of pollution which is increasing rapidly every passing day, to reduce the energy imports dependence, and also to get more eco-friendly vehicles. It is pertinent to note that the government has planned to bring electric vehicles to the region by the year 2030.
As electric taxis are going to hit Maharashtra soon. It is evident that the state government has already taken an initiative by installing two kinds of charging points: one is fast and other is slow charging units at various parts of the city. In Nagpur city, nearly 200 fast charging points have been installed so far which take just an hour to charge the electric vehicle fully.
As per the sources, if this initiative will be successful in Nagpur then electric taxis will also be introduced in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat states as well. Let’s hope together this initiative to be successful as it is a step towards the reduction of pollution and to get eco-friendly vehicles.
